Around twenty film and video educators of various academic institutions recently convened at the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication (UP-CMC) to reorganize the Film School Board of the Philippines (FSBP).
Representing the major schools offering film and video courses in Metro Manila, the educators agreed to rename their organization as the Film and Video Educators of the Philippines (FVEP).
FVEP’s primary objective is to enhance film and video education through training of teachers, sharing film and video resources and expertise, production of films and teaching materials and advancing major issues related to film and video education in the country.
An interim board was formed composed of faculty representatives from the major schools. They are Fr. Nick Cruz, S.J. (Ateneo), Joyce Cruz (St. Joseph’s College), Prof. Gerry Josue (Philippine Women’s University, Prof. Amelita Lopez (De La Salle University), Prof. Dennis Marasigan (St. Scholastica’s College), Rom Cumagun (Miriam College). Prof. Zenaida Martinez (Far Eastern University), Prof. Cesar Orsal (Trinity College).
Prof. Ellen Paglinauan (UP-CMC) and Prof. Victoria Red (Polytechnic University of the Philippines), Also included in the board are Dr. Grace Alfonso as ex-officio and Armida Santiago as interim secretary, both of whom are faculty members of the UP-CMC Department of Film and Audio-visual Communication.
