Around twenty film and video educators of various academic institutions recently convened at the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication (UP-CMC) to reorganize the Film School Board of the Philippines (FSBP).
The educators agreed to rename their organization the Film and Video Educators of the Philippines (FVEP) Its primary objective is to enhance film and video education through training of teachers, sharing film and video resources and expertise, production of films and teaching materials and advancing major issues related to film and video education in the country.
An interim board was formed composed of faculty representatives from the major schools. They are Fr. Nick Cruz, S.J. (Ateneo), Joyce Cruz (St. Joseph’s College), Prof. Gerry Josue (Philippine Women’s University, Prof. Amelita Lopez (De La Salle University), Prof. Dennis Marasigan (St. Scholastica’s College), Rom Cumagun (Miriam College). Prof. Zenaida Martinez (Far Eastern University), Prof. Cesar Orsal (Trinity College). Prof. Ellen Paglinauan (UP-CMC) and Prof. Victoria Red (Polytechnic University of the Philippines).
Also on the board are Dr. Grace Alfonso as ex-officio and Armida Santiago, interim secretary, UP-CMC faculty members.
